Banned Books Week

"Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to choose or the freedom to express one’s opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of those unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them. After all, intellectual freedom can exist only where these two essential conditions are met."http://http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/bannedbooksweek.htm
The Lansing Public Library supports your freedom to choose. We've selected several books that have been banned or challenged and now have them on two display tables in the Youth Services Dept. For every banned book you check out before Sept. 30th, you may enter our raffle at the circulation desk. You could win your very own banned book!
